At Sabre Holdings, we care very much about achieving strong
financial results, and the same goes for how we achieve
them. We recognize that there's a right way to do business -
and a wrong way. For that reason, integrity is one of our
company's core values, driving open honest communication and
sound business policies and practices that establish trust
with our constituencies.
All of our business units and support groups operate
according to common principles. Those include high quality,
timely disclosure, strong internal controls, legal
compliance, and sound business ethics. Since day one, we've
followed best practices in accounting, disclosure, and
internal controls. Our internal auditors test the soundness
of those practices, working closely with outside auditors
and reporting regularly to the Audit Committee of our Board
of Directors. Our CFO and I routinely review the financial
performance of our business units and our public disclosure.
Our solid, consistent practices in these areas make me
confident as I personally certify Sabre Holdings' financial
statements.
We also foster integrity through our detailed Business
Ethics Policy. We make it clear that we expect everyone
associated with Sabre Holdings – employees, officers,
Directors, and others – to adhere to the highest principles
of business conduct at all times. We routinely remind them
about the importance of legal and ethical behavior, monitor
compliance, and enforce our policies. We have long provided
our employees with multiple methods for reporting
(anonymously, if they choose) any concerns about business
ethics, legal compliance, auditing or accounting issues, or
policy violations. We encourage use of these methods.
Our Board of Directors is another strong source of integrity
within our company. We value their experience and
independence. We share information with them and practice
regular, open, and candid communication. They have complete
access to management and to outside advisors of their
choice. They are a great blessing to the company, not only
providing oversight of management, but also offering
valuable advice and guidance.
With integrity as a guiding light, I see great promise for
Sabre Holdings in the long term. Not only can we achieve
great financial results for our stockholders, but we can
also ensure the confidence and respect of everyone who does
business with our company.
